My Improvisational Life

I’m making it all up as I go along.

Life happens February 25, 2008

Filed under: Randomness — Me @ 1:28 pm

Back in November, I started coughing my brains out, so I went to the doctor.   He said upper respiratory infection, gave me antibiotics, and sent me on my way.

In December I went back because I was still coughing my brains out.  The doctor looked  disturbed and said chest X-ray.  Fortunately, there was no pneumonia, just particularly evil infection, so more antibiotics, some steroids, and I went on my way.

A couple of weeks ago I started coughing like mad again, so I went back.  As it turns out, I have a long-lasting (like months) para-flu virus which, by itself, isn’t too bad but it wears down the immune system so that secondary infections can take hold, which explains the repeat respiratory infections and the general crappiness of the last four months.

Three weeks ago I had a death in the family.

I have a show opening in 2 weeks.  Not a play (sigh), but a little fund raiser show that could definitely be going more smoothly.

I am exhausted, and stressed, and sick.  I am not feeling any tremendous insight into anything, therefore no writey on bloggy.  No writey at all, actually.  I am basically at the “fire bad, tree pretty” mental stage.

Thank goodness for Buffy DVDs.

I was wondering why you weren’t posting as you usually do, I pray you feel better soon and that the infection goes away completely. Love ya – Lisa

I’ve been missing you and your writing. Major (((hugs))) and I hope you’re better soon.

Remind me when you are better to tell you about my first visit with a new endo. I’d like your input.

oooh, that doesn’t sound so good! Sorry to hear you are feeling so awful, nothing like a four month long cough to tire a girl out! Hope you’re show goes smoothly and keep resting when you can…hugs from here.

I have been missing reading your insights. I was wondering where you were and hoping you were ok.

Yesterday I did consider the idea that some evil skinny person had borne your wrath for being insensitive and stupid and you had ended up serving time! I’m glad that its not that (grin), but hope you are back in the land of the living soon. Hugs!

Erin, I’m so sorry you’re sick. I miss you, and when I’m out of packing hell and you’re out of coughing hell, we can get together and do some needle-felting b/c I’ve had a hankering to plunge a needle into something ;)

  6. Wow Erin. That completely blows. Nothing like feeling like a train ran over your chest for four months. We have hardly been at church lately so I had no idea you have been MIA for so long and feeling so crappy. I am glad you got a decent diagnosis and hopefully you will kick the crap out of this infection soon.
